About Trabeg Taekwon-Do
Trabeg Taekwon-Do, Douglas Cork was established in 2005. The club instructors are Denis Gannon 6th Degree Black Belt and Alexander Gannon 4th Degree Black Belt. We focus on teaching the Dynamic Martial Art of Taekwon-Do and teach students to defend themselves and build self esteem and self confidence. We are members of the Irish National Taekwon-Do Association (INTA) and participate in gradings, seminars and competitions on a national and international level. We are members also of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, one of the worlds largest Taekwon-Do organisations
INTA
The Irish National Taekwon-Do Association (INTA) was established in 1991 by Grandmaster Brendan O'Toole and Master Gerry Martin, who both have experience in Taekwon-Do spanning over 40 years. The association was set up with the aim of providing it's members with the highest quality instruction possible in ITF style Taekwon-Do as taught by the founder, General Choi Hong-Hi.
ITF
The ITF was formed in 1966, and has member associations in over 120 countries around the world. The ITF exists to grow and support its members, and provide certification, competitions, courses and other services to improve the breadth and quality of Taekwon-Do globally
Classes we offer
We have classes for all levels and all ages!
Kids Beginners Program
This beginners class introduces children from 6 years to 14 years to Taekwon-Do. In the 30 minute class children learn the basics of self defence under the careful eye of Mr Denis Gannon, 6th Degree Black Belt instructor. The benefits from this class are an increase is self confidence, co-ordination, fitness and danger awareness. After 12 weeks in this program the students move to the regular junior class for a continuation of their training.
Junior Class
Having succesfully completed the initial 12 week program students continue their training under the carefull eye of Mr. Alexander Gannon 4th Degree Black Belt Instructor. With regular gradings the students from this class continue on their journey to become black belts.
Adults (Beginners)
Many students begin their martial arts journey later in life. The students in the Adults Beginners class range from 15 years to adult. The class numbers usually limited to 10 take the beginning student to the first grade, yellow tip under the instruction of Mr. Alexander Gannon 4th Degree Black Belt who has over 25 years experience.
Senior Class
The Senior Class focuses on the continuing journey for the adult students. Training for Self Defence, Tournaments, Fitness and Flexibility are just some of the areas of focus during this class.

My child doesnt play other sports, would Taekwon-Do be suitable?
Many of our students have no background in other sports but trive in the atmosphere of a Taekwon-Do club. Taekwon-Do can be practiced as a martial art for developing self confidence, building self esteem or just as a fun activity. There is also the availability of competitions for those who have a more competitive side.

Is Taekwon-Do safe?
Safety is our first priority in Taekwon-Do training at Trabeg. From the beginning lesson students are taught the importance of respect and how being safe in training will positively impact on their enjoyment of the art. All our instructors attend regular instructor training to ensure that they teach with the most up to date and safe teaching methods.

Am I too old to start Taekwon-Do?
No. Taekwon-Do is a modern martial art it is ideal for participants of any age.

How much does it cost to train in Taekwon-Do?
Taekwon-Do costs can be discussed by calling 086-4128095. There is an annual joining fee, monthly class fees and for those wishing to progress a grading fee.

How long do the sessions last?
Depending on the age of the student class times vary from 30 minute classes for kids beginners to Adult senior class 60 minutes.

Denis Gannon
6th Degree Black BeltDenis Gannon 6th Degree
2019 Graded to 6th Degree by Grandmaster Brendan O'Toole, I.N.T.A., Dublin. Mr Denis Gannon started Taekwon-Do in 1985 and, following his successful grading to 4th degree Black Belt Mr. Gannon opened Trabeg Taekwon-Do in Douglas Cork. 'I like to keep the fun in our classes'.

A 4th Degree Black Belt instructor, Mr. Alexander Gannon began training when he was 5 years old and has trained students from beginner to Black Belt. Mr. Gannon has competed in many tournaments and has won 1st place Gold in the INTA Open and Nationals to mention just a few.
